Weather Forensics
Athenium Analytics specializes in solution-ready, hyper-local weather data. With resolution down to 1km, hourly temporal intervals, and data available within minutes after an event, this product provides quick and accurate validation of weather events. Data is available for the contiguous U.S., and core perils include temperature, wind, hail diameter, and precipitation. This data is originally sourced from leading radar networks and weather models, and our team of meteorologists apply a significant level of post-processing, as well as rigorous QA/QC, to produce top-quality weather data.
The data is also available as storm vector files, which are available in GeoJSON and KML file formats. The polygon data updates hourly, and one request to this endpoint will return data for the contiguous U.S. This storm shapefile data could be loaded into any geospatial mapping tool and overlaid on any location-based alternative dataset to determine which areas experienced peak storm impacts and which locations were marginally affected.
There is also an option to search for significant historic events at a given location. The weather history endpoints take an input of latitude & longitude and return all qualifying hail and/or wind events at that given location (dating back to 2015).
